Meet Anna Emmons
Anna Emmons is a lifelong Texan and a proud native of Houston. She earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law and began her legal career in 2002 as an Assistant District Attorney at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Over the past two decades, Anna has built a distinguished legal career rooted in deep courtroom experience. She has served in numerous misdemeanor and felony courts and was honored to work in the Family Criminal Law Division, where she prosecuted domestic violence cases that continue to shape lives across the community. She has also served in the Public Integrity Division, holding public officials accountable, and participated in the Vehicular Assault Review Committee, reviewing serious injury and fatal crash investigations.
As a prosecutor, Anna was entrusted with some of Harris County’s most serious cases. She successfully tried numerous murders and capital murders, including three death penalty cases in which she secured convictions and death sentences. In the Special Crimes Division, she worked closely with law enforcement on complex investigations of violent offenders.
In 2017, Anna entered private practice as a criminal defense attorney, gaining critical experience on the other side of the courtroom. This dual perspective—prosecutor and defense attorney—gives her a unique, balanced understanding of the justice system. She was also appointed as a pro tem prosecutor on multiple cases, representing the State of Texas when the District Attorney’s Office recused itself. In 2018, she secured a fourth death penalty conviction in a Harris County capital murder trial.
Her commitment to public service continued in 2019 when she joined the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office as a juvenile prosecutor. In 2022, she accepted the position of First Assistant at the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office, where she currently serves. There, she has worked to modernize the office, assist in major investigations, and lead high-level criminal prosecutions. Cases throughout her career have been featured on national true-crime television programs.
With more than 20 years of experience in criminal law across multiple Texas counties, Anna Emmons is uniquely qualified to bring strong leadership, fairness, and efficiency to the bench. She believes in getting back to the basics: hard work, integrity, and a deep commitment to doing what is right.
Anna is a woman of faith and a firm believer in God, family, and justice for all. She believes everyone must be heard and their rights protected, offenders must be held accountable, and the people of Harris County deserve a court system that works. She is ready to serve as the next Judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law No. 12.
